Greg Baker, Earth and Planetary Sciences, receives EEGS Early Career Award

Dr. Greg Baker, Associate Professor in Earth and Planetary Sciences, is the recipient of the inaugural Early Career Award presented by The Environmental and Engineering Geophysical Society (EEGS).The Early Career Award is made to acknowledge academic excellence and to encourage research in near-surface geophysics. A five member committee of distinguished university faculty and national laboratory scientists selected Dr. Baker as their first choice to receive this prestigious award which will be presented at the April 2008 Symposium on the Applications of Geophysics to Engineering and Environmental Problems (SAGEEP) meeting in Philadelphia.

The award carries  the following benefits:

  1. Free registration to the SAGEEP conference at which the award will be presented
  2. A plaque, suitable for display
  3. A $1000 USD cash award
  4. The awardee shall be allotted a 45 minute time slot to present his / her research and vision at the SAGEEP conference
  5. The citation and, if available, the awardee’s presentation, will be published in FastTIMES and distributed to cooperating societies
