Pre-Law
Designated pre-law advisors in the Advising Services center can assist students who are interested in attending law school. If you have questions about the LSAT, the application process, or even suggested curriculum, please call 974-4483 to schedule an appointment with a pre-law advisor. Also, be sure to check out the information provided on this web page.
In addition, you are invited and encouraged to join the undergraduate pre-law society, Phi Alpha Delta, which offers a variety of programs and activities for those considering law as a profession.
Law schools do not prescribe a particular curriculum for prospective students to follow, so you may major in any field of interest. Be sure to seek breadth in your undergraduate curriculum with depth in at least one area (i.e. your major). Choose a major based on interest and fit, and choose courses that will give you a well-rounded education.
There are basically two factors involved in the law school admissions decision: your undergraduate Grade Point Average and your score on the LSAT (Law School Admissions Test). In addition, some law schools may require letters of recommendation. Extracurricular activities should be a part of your college experience, and your personal statement is also a very important element of your application.
If you are considering UT Law School, you may wish to consult the UT Law School website.
